| Week 10 Thanks to all of you who responded to my original message. The response has been overwhelming and very heartwarming. By now many of you have asked where my journal entries are. What can I say? It's busy--being an expectant father. Who knew it started this early? I realize this pales in comparison to what it will be like once baby actually arrives. But, now I finally have had a chance to sit down and do some writing. Rather than bore you with the occasional long-winded journal entry, I will try to write frequent, short entries. I'll take any and all comments, of course. The Health Update We are now approaching the end of week 10 of the Poethig pregnancy. Erika has experienced almost no morning sickness and for that we are very grateful. However, she is constantly fatigued. I mean, walk in the door and fall asleep fatigued. This is a little hard for her to adjust to, considering she likes to work 12 hours a day. Now these 12 hour days completely wipe her out and she seems to have a constant cold--I hear this is pretty common, too. Other changes are more subtle. She now has a noticeable aversion to red meat. And, she has fruit cravings. Most notably, I must now keep our fridge stocked with grapefruit. This is a good craving to have, I think. My mother's psychic dream Right before we found out we spent a weekend in St. Louis, wathcing the Cardinals and seeing my friends and family. Of course, my love for Erika is only enhanced by the fact that she is willing to endure my St. Louis baseball obsession. Anyway, after dinner with my parents and grandparents one night, my mother told us about a dream she had where a dog came to her and said, "You're going to be a grandmother." Think about that for a minute. We hadn't even discussed the issue with my parents in ages. As many of you know, potential grandkids are not something you want to bring up with your parents or in-laws much, untilt they are a more concrete prospect. So, Mom's dream really freaked us out. I'm now completely convinced my mother has some psychic abilities. I'm sure she's available for consultations and readings--dsendejas@yahoo.com Next issue: Couvade and day-care waiting lists |
