| Week 15 Rh factors I fully admit that I was no expert about pregnancy before we got our news, but since I've been reading all these pregnancy guides, I have learned more and more. However, something this week caught me by surprise. Erika had her most recent doctor's appointment Tuesday. At the appointment, we discovered that Erika is Rh negative. No big deal in and of itself unless the father (that's me) is Rh positive (which I am). So, Erika must get a shot around the 28th week to make sure her immune system doesn't think the baby is a foreign object. The risk apparently is pretty low for a first pregnancy but you need to have the shot just in case. Yuck. The in-laws As most of you probably know, my in-laws (Erika's parents) recently moved practically right next door to us in a loft building. What I often hear from people after I tell them that is, "Oh. How is that working out?" I think that most people are not particularly thrilled about the idea of living next door to their parents or in-laws. However, I must say in our case it is a godsend. They have been able to come over during the day when we have had some work done on the house. They've made us meals when we've had long days at work. Sounds pretty good, huh? They lived in Chicago previously so they have lots of friends and interests here in town (i.e., they aren't just interested in us!). And, I'm sure they will be ever more helpful to us when baby arrives. It's very much like the show "Everybody Loves Raymond," (nice coincidence) although my in-laws are a little less wacky.
