| Week 21 The Health Update Erika continues to feel fine. No problems right now, thankfully. She is feeling the baby move around more and more, and this week she had her first "discomfort" from the baby moving. She thinks one of the baby's feet or hands was lodged up against her ribs for a while, but the baby moved soon enough. More of this to follow, I'm sure! Baby furniture While it is hard to top the ultrasounds of last week, this week we tackled another big issue. We went furniture shopping. We went to Lazar's, a family-owned business in Lincolnwood that comes highly recommended by our friend Elizabeth Evans, among others. I had heard so many people complain about how expensive cribs and changing tables were that I had convinced myself that the cost of baby furniture was going to be so outrageous that the baby would have to go to work at the age of 12. Well, it's not that bad. It's not cheap, but it wasn't the budget busting experience I had thought. We got a crib and a dresser/changing table. However, it was the experience that was most interesting. We walked in and there were pregnant women as far as the eye could see. Even a few fathers came out for the trip, eschewing the NFL playoffs. However, I did overhear one say, "Honey, we have to get home by 3:30 for the game." We stayed quite a while and eventually met the co-owner of the store. The founder's son, he spent about an hour with us running us through the various models they had and helping us decide on colors, etc. We were very fortunate to have found him. In response to one of my questions, he did say that no one had ever given birth in the store. I had to ask. Thanks for all the kind words.
