| Week 28 The Health Update This week, Erika was in New Orleans for a conference. While walking across Canal Street, she tripped over a streetcar rail partially embedded in the street. It was a nasty fall. She put out her hands to break the fall and succeeded, but cut her hands and forearms up pretty badly in the process. She managed to pick herself up before the approaching streetcar came by (these streetcars have drivers, so I don't think it would've run her over, but it's scary all the same). Immediately after the fall, none of the passing pedestrians offered to help her up. A group of Japanese tourists did begin to gawk, however. They did not start snapping photos. She is very lucky she didn't break her wrists, I think. However, some Neo-sporin and bandages later, and she's fine. And, baby is still kicking away. The next ultrasound is still scheduled on Tuesday, so we'll have the medical staff check her out then to make sure everything's OK. Kitty comforts As you all know, we've got a cat, who is near and dear to our hearts. think I've kind of discussed this before, but cats obviously have a bad rap when it comes to their relations with babies. We've had a number of people tell us we needed to get rid of our cat now or that we should keep the cat and baby completely separated from each other. I mention this because our cat, May, is now sleeping on the bouncy chair we recently purchased from our neighbors. Actually, she spends almost all her time in the baby's room. Kind of strange, huh? I think she's nesting. Anyway, I guess we are going to have to try to remove all her cat hair from that room before the baby shows up, just in case baby is allergic to cats. If he or she is allergic, we'll find out soon enough, I'm sure, but it's probably not good to put a baby to sleep on a bed of cat hair. Next week: Miss the bris? and ultrasound results |
